FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - TANNING

Q.
Is it true that if I shower after tanning, I will wash my tan away? I have been told to wait up to 3 hours, is this correct?
(David M. of Miami, FL)
A.
If you shower after tanning, you will not wash away your tan It takes around 24-48 hours to develop. The skin is simulated by the ultraviolet light and your cells in your skin produce the pigment melanin. This process results in a tanned appearance. It is very important to keep your skin hydrated.

Q.
I'm a body builder and have medium skin tone, will I burn?
(Rover R., Daytona, FL)
A.
You will probably tan faster and more easily. You could still get sunburn. As long as there is no prolonged overexposure to UV and you use high quality sunscreen outdoors, you will limit overexposure. All skin types tan differently, that’s why at Raydiance we have more skin type specific choices with different UV and UV FREE options. When the experience matters you can count on us!

Q.
Can anybody tan?
A.
Certain skin types cannot tan, but anybody can get a golden tan look with our UV free mystic tanning system. Our tanning professionals can help you determine the type of tanning best for your skin type.

Q.
Why are lotions necessary?
A.
Tanning without a lotion will deplete your skin of its much needed moisture. Lotion can help stimulate the production of melanin so your skin tans more quickly, gets darker and stays tan longer.

Q.
How do I know the beds are clean?
A.
We use FDA approved cleaning solutions after every costumers tanning session. The solution is properly tested daily to ensure proper sanitizing properties exist. Please feel free to ask us if you have any more specific questions about this issue.

Q.
How often do you change the bulbs in each bed?
A.
We follow the manufactures recommendation for bulb replacement so that you will receive the best possible results. We typically change each set when they have reached 80% of there capacity so that your tan doesn’t suffer from weaker uv rays. In each room we also log the lamp usage to guarantee the best results.

Q. Is it possible that tanning can cause injury to vital internal organs? After tanning there is a smell like I'm cooking. Could this be possible?
A. While tanning in a bed, the UV light is similar to UV light from the sun. It will not penetrate deeper than the skin and will not harm internal organs. Concerning the odor, it is known as the "after tan" odor. This is common while tanning and is caused by friendly bacteria on the surface of the skin. The smell is a result from the bacteria when your body/skin gets hot from a tanning bed. Raydiance carries many affordable tanning products containing antibacterial ingredients to eliminate that “after tan odor”. Moreover some products contain wonderful fragrances that further mitigate the after tan odor and enhance your tanning session.
